Bring A Brand-New Superhero To Life! Bring A Brand-New Superhero To Life!

Calling the young artists of the world (ages 5-10)!

Now, more than ever before, we need hope.
This is the perfect time for a new superhero to swoop in and save us all!

So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help humanity fight an evil power – known as Coronavirus (or its other identity, COVID-19).

Let your imagination run wild and free… your superhero could be completely made up, or they could be just like a character from your favourite story.

For example, your superhero could have the power to make everybody laugh so loudly that Coronavirus is scared away! Maybe your superhero could be a time-traveller like Dr. Who, searching through the ages for a potion that will save us all.
Or, your superhero could be just like the magical White Rabbit from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, sending humanity to a parallel universe, where no virus can attack.

What Could you Win?

We will choose just ONE superhero to be the winner.
If yours is the winning superhero, you will inspire the creation of a new limited-edition print to be sold in our shop.

Money will also be donated to the New England Complex Systems Institute, the not-for-profit Institute behind the initiative EndCoronavirus.org. – so your superhero will do lots of good!

But that's not all!

You will receive your own copy of our limited-edition print, AND lots more limited-edition goodies (our Circe cotton bag, our Polyphemus t-shirt, and a set of cards of your choice), as well as a €50 book token (Amazon Gift Card).

Even if your superhero isn’t the winner, lots of people will still come and see your drawing at The Pattern Tales' exhibition, ‘In Wonderland, and Other Stories’, to be held at the Plastico Cafè-Gallery in Syros, Greece, during November 2020.

For the exhibition, we will create a beautiful Hall of Heroes, in which all the superhero ideas we receive will be on display, to empower and inspire everybody!

Everyone is invited to come and participate in the opening, which will take place on Saturday 7th November at 8pm.

As we receive your drawings, we will also feature them on our Facebook page and Instagram stories, in the hope of spreading a positive message around the world (so ALL superheroes will be doing lots of good work!)

(Note for parents: when featuring your child’s drawing on our social media pages, we will mention the name and age of your child, along with your city of residence).

Are you ready to change the world?
Good!  Here’s how to enter…

Good news!  The competition is super easy, AND you can do it from your home:

  1. Draw your superhero on a plain A4 (21x29,7cm) white paper. You can use any technique (watercolour, pastel colours, wax crayon, collage, acrylic colours, etc..)
  2. Ask your parents to scan the drawing in high resolution (300dpi, in .JPG, .TIFF, .PDF format).
  3. Then, ask them to email your drawing to info@thepatterntales.com, including:
  • Your hero's name
  • Your hero's superpower
  • A short story to introduce us to your superhero
  • Your name, age and nationality

The deadline for entries is 19th April 2020, at 12am your local time.

Note: on 13th March 2020 we announced that the deadline has been extended to 1st May 2020.

The winner will be announced on 30th April 2020 on our Facebook page and Instagram account (your parents will also be informed by email).

Remember

Your superhero is completely your creation. You get to decide how they look, what power they have, and how they are going to fight the evil Coronavirus.
So, be as creative and imaginative as you like!

FINALLY…wishing you good luck – we are really looking forward to meeting your superhero!
